week4-Udutu-Project

This week we were to work on the Udutu project that was proposed in week 2. I found Udutu to be a great authoring tool that has some good templates to get a course designer started. The navigation and instructions could use some more development. Like a progress bar letting me know my media files are being uploaded and how much longer it will take. It would also be be nice not to have to type the word delete in all caps when I want to delete a page in the lesson I am creating. However for a free tool I think this works well and I really don't have a lot of issue with it.

Check out the lesson I create and see what you think of this tools. Feel free to leave a comment or two and tell me what you think of the lesson or letting me know your thoughts on Udutu.

This lesson was the first video I created for my AR project out of 3. I chopped up the video and put them on different slides. I included some interactive buttons for the learners as well to go with the videos. In addition I added an assessment at the end of the lesson to check the learns understanding.

  1. Q thank you very much for breaking what can be a complex topic down into manageable pieces and giving us definitions in laymans terms. I also think that your assessments are very appropriate, and that this would be a great intro for someone just beginning their first endeavor into project management.

  2. Q,
I enjoyed your presentation. You have wonderful “stage” presences and the videos were quite enjoyable. The interactivity within your Udutu was fun and engaging. At the end for the assessment I choose wrong answers and the result of acknowledging that the answers were wrong and to try again was good feedback. Way to go, Q.

  3. This is one of the best quick tutorials on project management basics. You made it very personal by being on camera, too. The assignments are short and to the point and the final assessment is not possible to get right without going through the lesson. What a great, engaging learning module!

I agree with your statement that it would be great if udutu could handle the media files better. The progress bar is a must-have to not drive people away from such great product. The legend of explaining the abbreviations used in a pop-up form would be nice, too.

    Great job! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Q,

This is a great quick tutorial. The videos and examples gave the course attendee a solid foundation in project management. I hope that you plan to use this as it takes a complex topic and brings it to a level that makes sense. Great job!

  5. Q,

After fumbling around with UDUTU and the uploading progress I tried using Firefox instead of Safari. When uploading using Firefox you are provided with some uploading progress information which I agree is very helpful.

Your Project Management is clear and easy to understand. It is laid out in simple terms that are easy to follow. I enjoyed the images that help provide examples. These helped me to understand how to apply the definitions in everyday terms.

Thank you for the great videos. They provide a human element to what could be delivered with just and voice alone. The live video of a person helps warm it up.

  6. Great Job. I like how you simplified project management into everyday activities, allowing learners to understand that we all have complete projects without us calling it. Your Udutu project was very interactive and engaging.
