MAC-Week4-Reading - change the way you see things

In this weeks reading we finished off the last three chapters in the book "The Art Of Possibility"

These last three practices are: 'Being the board', 'Creating frameworks for possibility' and ' Telling the we story'. Below are my thought on the last three chapters.

Being The Board
For this practice the idea of changing our perspective to see “yourself” as the playing surface as to which the game of living is played. We need to be willing to declare that, I am the composition of everything that happens in my life. Another way of looking at it is being fully present without blame, shame or hurt. Being the board is about defining the experiences of your surrounding and not saying you are the center of the universe. If you do think you are the center of the universe the authors would suggest prescribing a heavy dose of Rule # 6. Seeing yourself as the board will help with seeing more and more of your relationships as partnerships. You will want to be more engaged and in the moment with people if you are changing your perspective.

Creating Frameworks For Possibility
The idea and concepts in this chapter are about finding ways to build and establish frameworks that allow you to see the difference possibilities available to us. I like to think of these frameworks as the foundation or the architectural drawings to move us forward. It is up to us to create the foundation of the drawings to see the different possibilities that are not attached to the downward spiral. Another way of thinking about it is in order to see yourself as the board in the game you need to create the idea of the game and that is what the framework is.

Telling the WE Story
The thought process behind the idea of ‘Telling the WE story’ goes beyond just looking at what are our similarities as human entities. It is more about discovering what our common story is so we can see and live the possibilities. It is the capstone of integrating all the practices shared in the book. It is also about the passion of sharing the WE story, not just going through the motions of telling story but truly feeling the story of WE from within.

  1. Architecture is an excellent way to think of the frameworks! I tend to be picture oriented in my head, thank you for this. Now I have a way to look at it, and it makes more sense to my way of thinking.
